The ATHENA Award was inspired by the goddess of Greek mythology known for her strength, courage, wisdom and enlightenment—qualities embodied in the ATHENA Leadership Model. The Award is unique in both scope---local, national and international---and the ATHENA mission upon which it is based. The ATHENA Leadership Award is presented to an individual who is honored for professional excellence, community service and for actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills.
The Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for this year’s ATHENA Award, the Athena Young Professionals Award, and the Athena Organizational Award. Nominations for all three awards will be accepted through Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 5:00 PM. Women In Networking is also accepting nominations for their scholarship which will be awarded at this event.
On November 19, 2015, recipients of the award will be recognized for assisting women in achieving their full leadership potential, demonstrating creativity and excellence, and providing valuable service to improve quality of life in the community at the first bi-annual Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce Athena Gala.
