Clove Alliance Hosts Presentation On Supporting Survivors with Disabilities
Clove Alliance is proud to announce a one-day interactive presentation titled “Amplifying Voices: Empowering Survivors with Disabilities,” focused on supporting survivors of sexual violence with disabilities. This event, tailored for community professionals, will take place on Friday, August 8th, from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM at Kankakee Community College (KCC).
The keynote speaker, Leanne Mull, MHA, co-director of Blue Tower Solutions, brings a wealth of expertise in improving the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and has shared insights at renowned platforms, including the TEDx stage.
This interactive presentation will outline best practices for supporting people with disabilities who are survivors of sexual assault. Topics include:
● Deepen the understanding of best practices for supporting survivors of sexual violence with disabilities.
● Learn strategies that contribute to survivor empowerment.
● Engage with real-life case studies to apply learning in context.
● Participate in interactive and experiential activities to process and reflect on case studies.
"People with disabilities are more than twice as likely to be targeted for sexual violence. This presentation is crucial for anyone who works with this population," says Tracey Noe-Slach, Executive Director & CEO of Clove Alliance, an organization dedicated to providing services to survivors. She emphasizes, "This learning opportunity will empower our community to prevent sexual abuse against people with disabilities and to respond effectively when it occurs."
The presentation is ideal for professionals who directly serve or engage with people with disabilities in their work. Participants can earn 5.5 CEUs or QIDP CEUs. The registration fee is $20 and includes lunch. Interested individuals can register online.
KCC Continuing Education & Career Services proudly joins Clove Alliance as a co-sponsor of this event.
