International Women's Month Spotlight
In honor of Women’s History Month, the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce is proud to highlight the incredible women who are making a difference in our local business community.
Throughout the month, we’ll be featuring women business owners and leaders who are inspiring others, strengthening our local economy, and helping Kankakee County thrive.
Today we are excited to spotlight Taylor Rogers, owner of Rogers Media Group.
Tell us a little about your journey to starting your business. How did you get started? What/Who inspired you?
My mission is to empower businesses through innovative social media marketing strategies that connect brands with their audiences in meaningful ways. My journey began while working as a merchandiser at Nichols Paint and Fab in Watseka, Illinois. What started as helping sell merchandise quickly grew into managing social media, where I was given the freedom to experiment with new ideas and engagement strategies. That opportunity sparked my passion for digital storytelling and marketing. Over the past three years, I have developed skills in video editing, digital design, and web design, ultimately leading me to launch my own business. The trust and encouragement from my workplace, combined with my desire to help local businesses grow, inspired me to turn that passion into a career.
What is the proudest moment in your career journey thus far?
One of the proudest moments in my career was creating a social media video for two local girls returning home from the hospital with a police escort. Capturing the overwhelming support from the community and seeing people come together during such an emotional and meaningful moment was incredibly rewarding. It reminded me that storytelling through media has the power to unite people, inspire hope, and make a real impact beyond the screen.
Share a challenge you have faced in your career and how you overcame it.
One of the biggest challenges I faced was building my business from the ground up and establishing a strong client base. Starting a business requires resilience, patience, and belief in your vision, especially in the early stages. I overcame this by consistently showing up, networking within my community, delivering quality work, and letting results speak for themselves. Through persistence and dedication, I was able to grow relationships, earn trust, and continue expanding my business.
What advice would you give to the next generation of women in the workplace?
My advice to the next generation of women is to never give up and never listen to those who say you cannot succeed. The workplace is not a man’s world; it is a space of equal opportunity. Break barriers, trust your instincts, and have the confidence to pursue your goals boldly. Success comes from consistency, hard work, and believing in yourself enough to keep moving forward every single day.
