International Women's Month Spotlight
In honor of Women’s History Month, the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce is proud to highlight some of the incredible women making a difference in our local business community. Throughout the month, we’ll be featuring women business owners who are inspiring others, strengthening our local economy, and helping Kankakee County thrive. 💼
Tell us a little about your journey to starting your business. How did you get started? What/Who inspired you?
My interest in chiropractic began during my undergraduate studies, when I felt called to pursue a career focused on whole-body wellness and truly individualized patient care. I was drawn to a healthcare model where patients are treated as people—not numbers. Encouraged by my chiropractor at the time, Dr. Brent Adams, I explored the field more deeply and quickly developed a strong passion for the profession. Now, after seven years in practice, I am grateful to own my own clinic, where I have the privilege of serving the community I grew up in and providing compassionate, patient-centered care every day.
What is the proudest moment in your career journey thus far?
I have experienced many meaningful milestones throughout my career, including receiving several awards upon completing my Master’s and Doctorate degrees. While those honors were significant achievements, my proudest moments come from my patients. There is nothing more rewarding than hearing a patient share that they are now able to do something they once couldn’t due to pain, immobility, or limitation—and witnessing the renewed confidence that empowers them to do even more.
Share a challenge you have faced in your career and how you overcame it.
One of the most significant challenges in my career—one that many women in leadership roles can relate to—has been balancing the responsibilities of owning and operating a practice while also being fully present as a wife and mother. It is a dynamic I intentionally work to navigate each day. I am incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of my family, which makes this balance possible. Even so, challenges naturally arise. I have learned the importance of establishing clear boundaries between my professional and personal life, and I am fortunate that my patients are respectful and understanding of those boundaries. Ultimately, I believe success in both roles comes from being fully present wherever you are—at work or at home—and leading with honesty and authenticity.
What advice would you give to the next generation of women in the workplace?
My advice to the next generation of women in the workplace is to never settle and to continually strive for a healthy balance between career and home life. As seasons of life evolve, allow yourself the flexibility to grow and adapt alongside them. Do not be afraid to establish clear boundaries that protect what matters most—whether that means being home for dinner with your family or attending an important game or event. Boundaries are not permanent or inflexible; they can and should be reassessed and refined as your responsibilities and priorities change.
