Bourbonnais Public Library District Files Funding Referendum
The Bourbonnais Public Library District has filed to put a library funding referendum on the November 3, 2026 ballot. For more than 40 years, the Library has operated at the same tax rate. In that time, we’ve thoughtfully expanded programs and services while responsibly stewarding taxpayer resources. As our community continues to grow, so do the ways people use their library. This initiative is an investment in a stronger community, one that ensures every resident has access to the spaces, technology, programs, and opportunities they need today and tomorrow. As rising costs outpace current revenue, the Library is seeking a tax rate of .290%. This increase will help us maintain and expand services and collections and ensure our facilities remain safe and welcoming for everyone. Visit the Referendum Info Page on the Bourbonnais Public Library’s website to learn more about this ballot measure, why we’re proposing it, and what it means for our community, including a tax calculator to determine potential impact on each household’s tax bill.
