WGFA Radio Celebrates 65 Years of Serving the Region

WATSEKA, IL
WGFA Radio will celebrate 65 years on the air on September 30, 2026. Since signing on in 1961, the locally owned station has been a trusted source of news, weather, sports, and agricultural information for listeners across east central Illinois and west central Indiana.

Today, WGFA 94.1 FM and its sister station, 96.9 FM The Buckle, reach
audiences in portions of 19 counties. From severe weather coverage and breaking
local news to high school sports and community events, the stations continue to play an important role in keeping residents informed and connected.

Sports and agriculture remain central to WGFA’s programming. The station provides extensive local high school play-by-play coverage and serves as the area’s
home for Fighting Illini football and men’s basketball. Regular market reports, farm news, and interviews with industry experts deliver timely information to the
World’s Greatest Farming Area’s agricultural community.

To mark the milestone, WGFA will celebrate throughout September with special
on-air features, historical highlights, listener memories, and contests. “We’re incredibly grateful to our listeners, advertisers, and community partners for allowing us to be part of their lives for 65 years,” said General Manager Stacey Smith.
