REFLECTIONS OF KANKAKEE COUNTY: History Bus Tour to Explore Local Museums, Murals & Hidden Gems

KANKAKEE COUNTY, IL — History lovers, curious explorers, and anyone who enjoys discovering
the stories behind our communities are invited to hop aboard the Reflections of Kankakee
County: History Bus Tour, happening Saturday, October 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Participants will meet at Perry Farm Park, where they’ll board the bus for a guided journey through the history and heritage of Momence and Grant Park.

The guided tour will take participants on a curated journey through two Kankakee County communities, highlighting historic homes, museums, a train depot, a one-room schoolhouse, and other meaningful local landmarks.

In Momence, participants will visit the Momence Graham Historic House and Museum, where guests will have the opportunity to explore the historic home and discover artifacts and exhibits that bring the community’s past to life. The tour will also include a visit to the nearby Farm Museum, showcasing the agricultural history and heritage of the area, as well as a stop at the historic Train Depot.

The tour will then continue to Grant Park, where participants will enjoy a box lunch before exploring the community’s historic sites with the Grant Park Historical Society. Stops will include the Grant Park Historical Society’s One-Room Schoolhouse and additional historic exhibits located near the Village Hall. Together, these sites offer a glimpse into the people, places, and stories that helped shape Grant Park.

The tour will return to Perry Farm Park, where participants will have the opportunity to explore the park’s annual scarecrow display at their leisure.

Tickets are $35 per person and include transportation, guided tours, and lunch, provided by The
Bennett Curtis House. Participants must select their lunch preference when registering. Registration is required by October 17. The Reflections of Kankakee County: History Bus Tour will take place from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.
