Fall 2021 Intern: Rachel Shepard

Starting in August, Rachel Shepard interned at the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce for the last four months. Growing up in Arlington Heights, Rachel came to Kankakee County to attend Olivet Nazarene University on a Track and Cross-Country Scholarship.

At Olivet, she double majored in Business Administration and History.
At the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce, Rachel was tasked with helping the staff redesign the Chamber Website. Rachel designed and populated the new website and helped make it more organized. She also researched different marketing and sponsorship strategies for the Chamber to help the staff enhance membership experience.

Rachel said that she loved applying her creativity to the website and enjoyed working on a product that would be used by chamber staff and members.
During her internship, Rachel was able to sit in on different meeting, come to events and observe the strategic plan training session. During her free time, she loves running with her friends on the cross-country team and enjoys playing card games. Rachel’s personal motto is to take an opportunity and make a moment. She is most proud of being a student athlete and stated that being an athlete has given her discipline, commitment, and grit.

Rachel is looking forward to starting her career after she graduates in May and will also be getting married to her fiancé, Connor, in June.
Thank you, Rachel, for your dedication and hard work that you have done for the Chamber over the past four month. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.
