A CALL FOR ART – CLOVE ALLIANCE

2023 Brave, Bold, and Believed Art Show Packet

 

Eligibility: Clove Alliance is accepting work for the third annual Brave, Bold and Believed Art Show at the Kankakee County Museum. Artists may submit up to two works. Participating artists must be in 7th-12th grade (if entering in the Student Division) or 18 years of age or older (if entering in the Adult Division). Artists can enter the show anonymously. This must be indicated on the entry form. All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form and art tag (found on the final page of this packet).
Specifications: Submitted work can either be two-dimensional or three-dimensional. Two- dimensional media must be no larger than 3.5 feet tall and four feet wide, not to exceed 20 pounds. This includes black and white and colored drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, photography, and mixed media. Three-dimensional work accepted can be no larger than 22 inches high and 12 inches in diameter, and weigh no more than 10 pounds. All work submitted must be tagged with a fully completed art identification tag found in this packet. Please securely attach the I.D. to the back upper-right corner of all artwork. Artwork can be submitted framed or unframed. Clove Alliance reserves the right to attach unframed work to display boards as needed for exhibition.
Submission of Work: April 5th and 6th from 9:00 AM- 7:00 PM. No late entries accepted. Art can be delivered in person to the Clove Alliance office at 1440 W Court Street in Kankakee. If you need to arrange a drop off date/ time outside of the listed times or at the Watseka office, please contact the Clove Alliance Prevention Department.
Opening Reception: All entrants, their guests, and the community are invited to attend the Opening Reception on Thursday, April 13th from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Kankakee County Museum, located at 801 South 8th Avenue in Kankakee. Admission is free and light refreshments will be provided. The Award Ceremony will take place at 6:30 PM.
Awards and Judging Criteria: Work will be judged and awarded prizes in the following categories: Judge’s Choice, Clove’s Choice, and People’s Choice. Prizes will be awarded for each category in both the Student and Adult Divisions. Judge’s Choice: Local artists will judge work based upon technical process, mastery of the medium, composition, creativity/ originality, and connection to the exhibition theme.
Clove’s Choice: Clove staff will judge work based upon originality and in keeping with the themes of empowerment, strength, resilience and survivorship.
People’s Choice: The exhibition will continue to be displayed at the Kankakee County Museum from April 13th- May 3rd. During this time, the community is invited to vote on their favorite entries for the People’s Choice Award. The People’s Choice Award winners will be announced via Clove Alliance’s social media pages on May 8th. Winners will also be notified via email.
First Place: $100, ribbon, award certificate, and acknowledgement during Awards Ceremony
Second Place: Ribbon, award certificate, and acknowledgement during Awards Ceremony
Third Place: Ribbon, award certificate, and acknowledgement during Awards Ceremony

Sales and Release of Work: Artists have the option of selling their work. Clove Alliance will retain a 25% commission on all sales and the balances of the purchase will be paid to the artist. Payment to artists will be made after the close of the exhibition. All works must remain in the exhibition until the show closes. No works will be released early.
Return of Work: Art must be picked up on May 10th or 11th at the Kankakee office from 9:00 AM-7:00 PM. If you need to arrange pick up at the Watseka office or a date/time outside of the times listed, you will need to coordinate that in advance with the Clove Alliance Prevention Department. Clove Alliance will not be responsible for artwork left after the last pickup date.

The artwork submitted for inclusion in this exhibit is original. The artist making the submission has not re-used imagery from another artist in any way without permission or credit given to that artist. Artwork found to be non-original in any way will be removed from the exhibit and all awards presented therein revoked.

Clove Alliance and the Kankakee County Museum photographs events and artwork for archives and publicity materials. By signing this entry form you are agreeing to this photography. Should you not wish to agree to the photography, you must inform Clove Alliance at the time of entry.
