Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais announces Republic Services, the village’s waste hauler, will be implementing their annual increase effective Oct. 1, 2023. The current rate for a single-family household in the village is $26.74 per month for residential trash, recycling and yard waste services. The price adjustment includes $1.07 increase per month totaling $27.81 per month. This amount will be reflected in residents’ next quarterly billing statement issued in September 2023. Since September 2020, the monthly rate has increased a total of $1.71. As a courtesy, Republic Services will be providing a notification letter to each household.
“We are cognizant of the economic challenges everyone faces today,” explained Trustee Rick Fischer, who serves as the Finance Committee Chairman. “This is why the village invested $750,000 of ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funding for residents, over the past two years, to aid in utility relief.”
“We would be remiss if we didn’t remind residents the rate for garbage, recycling and yard waste services has increased a total of $1.71 per month since September 2020, when it was $26.00 per month.”
The monthly residential garbage discount program, provided by the Village of Bourbonnais since October 2021, will be concluding in the next billing cycle. The board’s decision to end the incentive is a result of the village no longer receiving ARPA funding.
“We understand every dollar counts right now,” continued Trustee Fischer. “This is why it was so crucial to vote for the property tax relief referendum.”
